Research Environment

The EFI provides a research environment that enables its faculty members to conduct research at a level commensurate with that of world-class universities.

Contract Renewal

Contract renewal for our faculty members is directly linked to performance in academic research. In our experience, this incentive scheme has been a critical factor in motivating our faculty members to maintain high standards in the quantity and quality of their academic research.

With the exception of tenured professors, all EFI faculty members are employed under a contract based, which can only be renewed when certain research requirements and work performance are met. There are many ways of meeting the minimum requirement for contract renewal.

Compensation

Among universities in Cambodia, the EFI offers one of the appropriate levels of faculty compensation. This compensation policy enables faculty members to dedicate more time to their research. At the EFI, compensation is also linked to research performance, so that exceptional researchers receive relatively higher pay.

Teaching Loads

Faculty members at the EFI are required to teach only in an appropriate course per year (each course consists of 45 hours). In the event that a faculty member teaches more than the three-course minimum, he/she is fully compensated for teaching the extra courses. This low teaching-load requirement enables our faculty members to devote more time to their academic research.

The research support funding provided by the EFI can be divided into two basic categories: Research Funding & Overseas Conference Travel Support.

Research Funding

The EFI strives to provide sufficient research funding for its faculty members. There are two forms of funding: General Research & Teaching Expense funding (GRTE) and Research Project funding (RP).

Each year, the EFI calls fro national and international assistance to support its faculty’s member to do their research study.

Overseas Conference Travel Support

The EFI encourages its faculty members to participate in high-profile academic conferences.

In addition, each faculty member, regardless of his/her rank, is entitled to encourage to participate at a top-tier international conference at least one time during each contract period, even when not presenting a paper or serving as chairperson/ discussants.

Others

Because the EFI is a son institution to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (hereafter 'MEF'), EFIl faculty members have free access to all publications and databases at MEF. In addition, the EFI Library is equipped to provide all major journal articles on-line.
